Hubby and I went to the gym tonight so dinner was somewhat rushed the only
things that were certain: seitan and broccoli. Today (my day off) I decided that
I should make seitan, and now the day has been labelled Seitan Day! And of course went a little nutty with it ( why would leave half a batch's worth of vital wheat gluten sitting in the bag...that would just be silly!!) and so I made a quadruple dose, honestly i did not need to go to the gym after all that kneading... but I heard a treadmill calling my name!
The seitan was log style as I like to call it, actually maybe more like a salami ( the post punk kitchen forums have some good ideas, as does the Veg*n for Dinner blog. Thank you! ) and let me tell you it is nice and spicy and delicious. Last weekend we bought this new szechuan sauce so I thought that it would be perfect for a quick little stir fry. What I had not taken into account was just how spicy the seitan was. I love my food spicy, as does hubby but he has a limit... and it would appear that I do not. Rumour has it that I do not have taste buds...hmm? Some steamed cauliflower and of course broccoli, sauteed mushrooms, and onion, and of course the szechuan sauce some agave nectar, and soy sauce and voila....quick little stirfry. on top of some whole grain flax noodles.....mmm oh yes and i cannot forget the little sliced carrots (slivered...with a mandolin...I swear that thing will be the death of me one of these days... and that is all I need too...has anyone ever seen RMT's with missing fingers... cause I sure haven't and I really don't want to be the first one).
Hubby Rating:6 out of 10...would have been 8 if it weren't for the burning of his mouth...
Lesson Learned today: try sauces before cooking with them....
and now buh bye
